    Spinal care technology developed for astronauts is now available for better chiropractic care here on Earth. The Insight Subluxation Station is a neurospinal screening and evaluation system that uses surface electromyography (SEMG) technology originally designed to measure changes in the spinal muscles of astronauts.

  • Chiropractors use the Insight to help identify subluxations, or misalignments of the spine, by measuring muscle activity. Subluxations disturb the muscles' regular nerve function, causing an abnormal amount of electrical flow to the muscle as well as other health challenges. The Insight Subluxation Station measures the electrical flow and charts it using graphics that show the spine and specify precisely how chiropractors should adjust their patients. Insight allows for increased accuracy in diagnosis and improved treatment.

    The Insight uses technology developed for NASA to measure the effects of space on the spines of space shuttle astronauts. The Chiropractic Leadership Alliance (CLA) continued the development of the system into the commercially available model. The system measures skin temperature differentials and the sensitivity of paraspinal tissues and assesses range-of-motion, and heart rate variability to create visual images chiropractors can use to diagnose their patients and help bring better health to millions of people worldwide.

    Four important factors to consider before the tests are administered.

    1. Do the Insight Millennium tests hurt?
    Absolutely not. The tests do not utilize any needles, electrical shock, or heat whatsoever. They are receiving important information from your Central Nervous System and do not put anything into the body.

    2. Why do we administer these tests?
    Our purpose for administering these tests is to detect and pinpoint abnormal function in the spine which cannot be seen on X-ray. Abnormal spinal function causes abnormal Nervous System disturbance. The three standard tests will measure: 1) SEMG-the amount of electrical current in the muscles, 2) Thermography-skin temperature along the spine and 3) Inclinometry-range of movement of the spine.

    3. Why is it important to monitor the results?
    We want the best results for our patients like yourself. We can easily monitor your changes through periodic progress exams. It has been proven that a very slight amount of pressure (the weight of a dime!*) can disturb the communication of the Nervous System whether or not symptoms are present. Ferguson Family Chiropractic is pleased to welcome April Hulett, licensed massage therapist, who will provide therapeutic massage and bodywork to patients and the community at our office.

 
Bio- A licensed practitioner of therapeutic bodywork, April Hulett is pleased to be adding her services and experience to Ferguson Family Chiropractic. She trained at The Center for Natural Wellness School of Massage Therapy in Albany. Whether it is a thirty minute point-specific massage that complements your chiropractic adjustment or a full hour session, April will employ integrative massage techniques to address your specific needs.
 
30 Minute Focus – This session is designed to optimize the effects of your chiropractic care. By massaging soft tissue such as muscle and fascia around the area of adjustment, the pattern of dysfunction in the designated place may be more quickly and enduringly resolved. This session is applicable both before and after your adjustment, though preference is placed on pre-adjustment. By receiving massage pre-adjustment, the body is put in a place where it may be more receptive to your chiropractic adjustment.
 
Deep Tissue Bodywork – This type of massage goes further than mere relaxation. When looked at as a whole, the body is composed of many parts all tied together by muscles and connective tissue. Targeting specific muscle groups through the application of firm hands on techniques, deep tissue bodywork frees restricted muscle patterns and helps to restore normal mechanical function. An indispensable therapy in its own right, when combined with chiropractic, the two approaches can greatly increase the healthy function of your body and the quality of your life.
 
 
Range of Motion (ROM) Therapy - Over time, as a result of habitual activities and trauma, muscles get trapped in negative contraction patterns that cause pain and restrict range of motion. ROM Therapy restores balance to the relationship between the nervous system and muscles. The technique accomplishes this goal in two phases. First, the therapist passively places the client’s body in specific positions that release contracted muscles. Second, the therapist takes the client through a series of active stretches that restore the natural range of motion of the targeted muscles. The combination of muscular release and stretching creates spaciousness and ease of movement that improves a client’s relationship with their body.
